This driver improvement program offers techniques to enhance your driving practice, enabling you to make better choices while on the road, ultimately reducing the likelihood of future violations and crashes. Drivers may take this course as directed by the MVA or a court, or they can opt to enroll voluntarily.

How does Point System accumulation work in Maryland?
The MVA uses a Point System to record traffic violations on each person's driving record.
Depending on how many points you have accumulated in a 2-year period, the MVA will take the following actions:
New Drivers with a Provisional License: If you have a provisional driver's license, the MVA will require you to complete the regular Driver Improvement Program when you receive your first traffic violation, regardless of how many points the violation carries.
